I use braid on all spinning reels, and splice on 6 feet of appropriate size fluorocarbon to it. Why? No clue other than the braid is very easy to handle and fluorocarbon is alleged to be invisible........

I hit the water for about 5 hours today, pretty much same results. I did get one on a shaky head that pushed 2 1/4 lbs.

Packers Bay has plenty of room. Baily Cove could be tight if you arrive after 7 AM.

Last week I had a best 5 pushing 12 lbs. Yesterday I worked my butt off for one under 2 lbs. Good luck and enjoy your day.

Not sure of other ramps, but Baily Cove has more activity than I have ever encountered. Parking spots last Friday were like hens teeth. I was out today and the parking area was 1/2 full, rare for a Wednesday.

With the amount of ramp traffic on Shasta last weekend it is obvious a lot of fishing locations are closed. Any hope of things relaxing throughout the state?

Have run into those conditions, not to your extent though, and found a wacky rigged Senco fished very slow worked.

Parking for my favorite launch ramp on Shasta was 99% full. Saw a boat with three people, related not likely. I returned home. With most lakes closed, Shasta is busy.

Works both ways. Was fishing Shasta with grandson who was casting a tube, caught an 18" rainbow in about 3 feet of water.

Don't be afraid to experiment. I ended up drilling all of my plugs with a 1/2 inch bit for best results.
