Re: Well......
Check out the Pflueger Summit reels at BPS. They have 10 ball bearings, throw heavy or light line and lures, weigh less than 8 ozs., and are only $160+-. Great for worming with a baitcaster, light ripbaits, lightweight rod, reel, and lure combinations in general. Will also handle heavier line, but t...

Re: Ripbait/crankbait questions
Kidfisher, Like Bob G and Flipthati=jig said, you don't need sixteen different rods for sixteen different lures. But there are several different action and power rods that do perform different task better than others, and so make fishing easier and more enjoyable. I've found that a 6'6"Crucial ...

Re: trouble with trolling motor batteries
If the fuse was the problem, you should put another 15 amp back. That fuse is sized to protect the circut/accessory from burning out. If you put too big a fuse in, you defeat the purpose of the fuse. If the fuse was on your trolling motor circut, and your batteries are new, chances are you have a pr...

I'm no expert, but I've been using a St.Croix 7' med. extra fast tip graphite rod for throwing ripbaits, like the Orbit 80 and the Pointer 78. I try to use the lightest rod I can that will throw the lure and let me work it well. Compre rods have some nice actions in the med. with fast tips. I lean t...

In my experience, limited though it is, either the barometer was dropping, or there had been several days of stable, warmer weather.
If the baitfish move up, so will the bass. I've caught some of my best bass shallow after several days of warm weather in the middle of winter.

Re: Battery Charging solution?
I'd send the charger back. Too long a cord could cause enough of a voltage drop to make the charger overheat, and the charger may have thermal overload protection, so it shuts off automatically if it gets hot. But that seems really unlikely to me. Chargers don't pull that much power in the first pla...

I've had two Pflueger Summit baitcasters and one Supreme for about nine months now. I use them every time out. Thanks for the quick response.
Does your light blind you when you look back there at night?
In the past I've use black tape to mask off the front quarter of the light, but I think that's illegal.

Nav. light specs.
Is there a minimum height requirement for the rear nav. light?
I tried a taller light, to keep it out of my partner's eyes, but it's still blinding.
Last summer I ran into a guy who'd shortened his to about 2'.
Is that legal for night tournaments? For the Coast Guard requirements?

I called Jeff Jue after we had both fished Castaic yesterday to see how he had done. He told me he had "caught" a rod and reel in Bones Cove. He said the rod's cork was kind of trashed, but it was in good shape otherwise, and the reel seemed okay other than being cruded up with sediment. H...

I dodged a bullet this morning. I had a leaf spring break on my Trailstar Tracker 175 trailer while I was doing 55+ on the freeway on the way to the lake.
