Re: Western WA
Check out the Puyallup Hawg Hunters or Washington Bass Association. Lot of great guys in those clubs. Oh and there is way more than salmon to chase in Washington. I'm on the east side of the state and our tournament Saturday took 27+lbs to win and 26+ for second for five fish limits of largemouth. H...

The 2017 Strike King Open was held on Long Lake out of Willow Bay. The fishing was excellent and some giant largemouth were brought to the scales. This year's Silver Lake tournament did not produce the big bags like last year, but there were still some good fish brought to the scales. The "post spawn funk" seemed to hurt the fishing overall, but there were quite a few limits of largemouth that crossed the scales. Taking the win for t...

Fat WA Trout Eaters
We have some great bass fishing in Washington on those lakes that stock trout generously. Most of these lakes are fairly small (less than 1,000 acres) and with so many in the area, they all do not get much bass fishing pressure because there are so many good lakes to choose from. I went out last wee...

Electroshocking and Netting Long Lake, Still Caught 'Em
This week they have been electroshocking and gill netting my home lake, Long Lake. The article I read about it said they are doing it to remove some pike and carp. I question the timing of these nets in shallow water as bass are nearly all on the bank this time of year, but we watched what they were...

Lake Coeur d'Alene in Idaho is consistently on the Bassmaster Top 100 list of lakes and has been ranked very high several times. The Spokane Bass Club's April tournament was held on Lake Coeur d'Alene out of Sun-Up Bay. It was pretty split on the largemouth vs. smallmouth that were weighed in, but la...

You always hear about throwing red baits early in the year and for some reason they work great. I picked up a new bait and used it today and that was the only thing I could get bit on.
