I haven't posted in quite awhile, but I just need some support for a close friend and fantastic fisherman. Bill Murphy, AKA Papa Smurf, is critcally ill in a hospital in Vallejo. Re: Swimbait reel question

In addition to durability issues, there is the issue of relative power. Most regular bass reels hold around 100-150 yards of line rated around 15lb diameter. When you go up to 25lb the capacity drops to around 70-100 yards. If you make a 30 yard cast you have lost 50% of your gear ratio due to decrea...

I use the lightest weight conditions allow...usually 1/16 or 1/8th. I like to use Robos and Magic worms in 6" for better fish, but my favorites are baby brush hogs and 5" single tail grubs. These two baits just flat catch'em!

I know what you are thinking BDBR... I had a Silvertroll 12/24 TM on my very first bassboat that had a foot control with the option to hand control by switching a pin on the head. It was a pretty crappy TM but the hand control option was surprisingly cool. I discovered many situations where the hand...

The main lake has many flats, breaks and humps...get a good topo map and do a little study before going. I have a 1998 Viper Coral 205 with a 225 efi and 6" jackplate. I have never been in a fishing situation where draft was an issue. The biggest drawback of most fish-n-ski's is the wind signature caused by the wrap around windshield. It acts like a sail on breezy days, causing some boat control i...
