I have found this the easiest to use frog of them all. And to me the hook up rate has been outstanding. So impressed I just flat quit using all my others. I am not sponsored and just my two cents.Thumbs up for me. +1 I used to use Bobby's Perfect exclusively, until they made it "imperfect"...

Per the manufacturer, it looks like you can switch between the 1&2 battery position at any time. There is a caution statement that advises not to switch "OFF" while the engine is running though. Check it out youself here; http://www.perko.com/catalog/category/battery_switches/ Seems to...

Thanks for your prompt response Ken. Yeah, I'm talking about the Elite 5 DSI. Nice looking unit, but I'm afraid the lack of thru-hull capabilities is a buzzkill for me. I wonder if the down imaging technology requires direct water to xducer contact or is there just not much of a demand for thru-hull...

Elite DS thru hull?
It's time to upgrade my old Cuda, I'm looking at a Lowrance Elite DS. I like the looks of this unit, but don't see any option for thru-hull installations. I fish from a kayak and need a thru-hull xducr as I don't want to make some sort of ghetto contraption to hang it over the side! So my questions ...

I often fish those waters and have spent more time in BB than pretty much any other part of the delta. It kind of feels like my home base (the water that is, not the marina). I see alot of poacher types out there and share the same sick feeling about them as most of you do. I really wish they would ...

I don't think that rivers and tidal systems(like the delta) "turn over". The tidal movement and relative shallow depth don't allow for significant stratification of the water column. Dan pretty much explained the closest thing that resembles a turnover with the fish movement on the delta. ...

They will dive on you if retrieved even slightly too fast. If it's diving, stop and let it surface. Raise your rod tip then start crankin slow until it starts to wake and clack (leaving your rod tip raised a bit). I like to leave the clip on this bait also.
