I like the Rogue Rods SB796C with 15 or 20 lb. test. Use the hook with a weight on the hook like the Mustad Power Lock Plus Weighted EWG Hook.

I like the Quantum flipping reel. They make two models depending on if you want more bearings.

With the flipping switch on, the spool release bar is spring loaded. The reel is engaged when you release your thumb. It takes a little getting used to, but I really like it.

Agreed. With the charger on, check the voltage on the battery. It should be > 13 volts...about 13.5.

I got mine...I bet they are using boat registration info for this.

In general, the slower the charge, the longer the battery will last. The plates do not get as hot and therefore last longer. Also, you usually get a more full charge. I would consider the AC/DC Stealth Charger. The AC puts out 20 amps and with the DC, you will charge all your batteries. If you want, you can even put in the tow package and charge all your batteries when you drive. If you were to look at the ProPak, it looks awfully similar to the AC Stealth...thou...

You can check the voltage...but it is a static voltage with no load. The one thing you can look at is the voltage differences between batteries and that can provide some information. It may identify a weak or less than fully charged battery. The best way is to apply the load and check the voltage. T...

There is really only one way...put a load on it and see if it holds its voltage. If you were to take your boat to a good mechanic, he will have a Sun battery checker where he can put a 30 or 40 amp load on the battery while checking the voltage to see if it drops significantly.
