Both Gary and you, Pat, are obviously a class act! Thanks for the great story. You brought me back home, Pat, and I appreciate it.
Congratulations on a job well done!

I Use MegaStrike...
...I have used both versions of MegaStrike, and can attest to the fact that it does not deter bass in any way or fashion. I used it all last year (crawfish scent) and took AOY in three different circuits. I can't say it was the reason for doing well, but one thing is for sure, it didn't hurt! I have...

No Luxury Tax in Washington
I was wondering in case I move back to So. California. We don't have a luxury tax up here, but that will change as soon as someone thinks of it.
If California charges a luxury tax for your transportation for work, then it obviously is NOT a "luxury" tax.

I am all for displaying excitement, I do the same in my own way which is no less right or wrong. I don't know Mike, though I do understand something about Jersey having grown up in Newark, Delaware which is across the river from Jersey, and have fished Jersey waters. I don't see what this has to do ...

I have no problem with someone displaying genuine excitement, and would never begrudge someone having fun. To me that is different than behaving a particular way just to get noticed and get air time. Behaving like a lunatic may make a pro angler a smarter businessman since it gets him and his sponso...

The info that I heard about the S glass mat availability was something that supposedly just happened within the last month or so. Who knows, it may be completely bogus. I hope it isn't true as there seems to be a growing recognition of the qualities of S glass. Let me know what you guys find out. ci...

Availability
T Mike, Do you know if Seeker is currently able to purchase S Glass raw material anymore? I have been told that it may not be available any longer (I believe Corning was the only source recently, and they may have ceased production). Without the S glass matt material, rod makers can't roll the blank...

I am also on the Yamaha prostaff, and I have been assured that exceeding the "recommended" rpm range will not void your warranty. As a matter of principle, a motor run at lower rpm's will usually serve you longer than one run at its extreme limits, but the motor was designed to rev up to t...

...NaCl hit it right on the money. The size QuickDrop to use is that which gets the bait at the right level at the best speed. That is why I make 6 sizes so close together in weight. W.C.
To get back to the original questions, W.C., a fast action (like Cooch described) is the last action I would buy for a cranking rod. Although their sensitivity is usually better due to a fast taper, they perform miserably in comparison to a slow action in actually landing fish that get hooked. I wou...

S Glass
I have been a big fan and proponent of "S" glass rods, and to this day my Lamiglas SPC 703's and SPC 704's are my favorite rods that I would miss the most if I ever lost or broke one. I discovered these about 10 years ago, and also discovered that very few people ever bought them because m...

I had the Universal Sonar on a previous prostaff boat and used it for a year. Overall, I really liked it and prefer it, and would recommend it for most people. TearDrop Shaped
By far, I find the teardrop shape the best, which is why I designed QuickDrops. The teardrop shape gives a better feel of the bottom than any other shape, whether you fish still water or moving water. It is extrememly rare that it hangs, even in grass. It's compact shape doesn't catch current, it si...

Suspended Fish
Rich, When I'm fishing for suspended fish, as well as active fish on the bottom, I use a deadly technique that I call "DropSwimming", so called because you are constantly moving the bait horizontally, or swimming it on a dropshot rig. I wrote an article about DropSwimming, which I will for...

I started off using the 1/8 the most, then the 1/16th ounce a lot, then 3/8 and 1/2 ounce sizes. Now I just make sure I have all six sizes between 1/16 and 1/2 ounce, and by far the teardrop shape works the best in all conditions. One of the many reasons that I prefer the teardrop is because you can...

I would start checking at home while on the trailer. Start with a dry bilge, and fill your livewells with water. Nice smallies, Pat! They are additive, especially on 6 pound test. We have big smallies up here, without the huge water (although the Columbia can be almost as ugly). The last tournament took more than a 16 pound limit for five smallies to come in 23rd place! The top two weights both had almost 22 p...

I had a Raker blueprinted by Rich Boger, and to me it was worth every penny. There are very few items that affect the speed and handling of your boat than your only connection to the water, your prop. It amazes me how few boat owners bother to try various props, or get their prop tuned to their boat...
