The reed problem did not allow water in the motor but if the reed broke being made of metal it could be ran thru the motor and cause problems with the pistons and rings. There was never a water issue with reeds. This has been corrected with Optimax's and was only a problem on a limited basis. Mercur...

The unit you had was the 7520. I do beleive that the 320 will use the same cord and transducer for that unit. I know the bracket is the same.
