Re: BASS GEAR IN EUREKA?
Well, per my post...that was back in the 80's. So it is no longer the "New" Outdoor store. I've seen Tom a few times at Clear Lake and I thought he told me he still worked there. Maybe not because it's been a few years since I have seen him. Sounds like the Outdoor store gave up on fishing...

Re: BASS GEAR IN EUREKA?
No, that's not the place. It was in Arcarta square. I assume it's still open but I could be wrong. Tom knows his stuff. He's a straight shooter...not a clown by any stretch.

Re: BASS GEAR IN EUREKA?
Hey BassmanDan. I went to HSU for 1 year in 83. I can't remember much  , but do remember what a great guy Terry Roeloffs was as well as Professors Bob Kelly and Chip Cannon who taught a flycasting course for 1 credit! Bob Kelly convinced me that I'd be better off as a business major . So I tra...

Re: Getting my son interested in fishing--SF Bay Area Ideas?
You may want to try light tackle rock cod fishing on a partyboat. This is usually done in shallow water so he won't have to be winching 1 lb. weights up from 300 feet. I can almost guarantee you he'll catch a bunch of fiesty rockfish if you schedule a trip and you can use bass tackle. The fall usual...

Rumor has it Chris Raza knows all of these smallies by name. He has caught all of them, named 'em, and let them go for another day. I think I saw him on the I-5 bridge last week throwing Purina Bass Chow to 'em.
Hey Raza...was that you or was I imagining things?

FYI...FLW NG at CL in Oct is full. A few spots should open up as some who are out of the points race will bail and move entry fees to next season. There will be a few on the waiting list who will get in.

Re: Delta speed question
I think a 60+ mph bassboat wake may be smaller than a 35 mph wake. What I hate is when a boat slows down to supposedly create less wake but in actuality is leaving a huge following wake as they are pushing water. When this happens in narrow sloughs it really ticks me off. I'm sure a lot of folks don...

Re: Ultimate Match Fishing ( WOW) fair or unfair?
If memory serves me...this strategy was also used on the old version of the show. I actually don't see a problem with it. It's a part of the show to stick it to your partner. This included positioning the boat so that the guy in the back can not make the key casts. The guy in the back would then hav...

Re: Ultimate Match Fishing ( WOW) fair or unfair?
You are right BlueR...the referee schtick is irritating. But nowhere near as irritating as the old days when Ewell (sp?) Parker used to run that show. This was over 20 years ago when Rich Tauber came on the scene. It was the most phoney baloney shows ever. There were even shows where they had obviou...

I guess I dated myself with that post. You are right about Klein...he was the guy who turned me on to the Buff rods. The DFG hatchery workers slit the guts of live female salmon to harvest roe for the hatcheries. Do these fish suffer? Who cares? This is the DFG!! The boat itself is also in need of reconstruction. It has been uncovered outside and all the wood is rotted out. It wouldn't be hard to refurb the boat because it is a very open plain-Jane layout. I am considering buying it from him and turning it into a duck hunting boat. But if I don't, I'll let y...

My neighbor stopped by and asked me to give him an estimate on the value of his 17 ft Gregor River boat (sled style). It hasn't been used in 10 years so I have no idea how to value the 100 HP Johnson outboard. He said it ran perfectly 10 years ago but has not been fired up since. The outboard is a '...
