Re: World record bass. Will it come from Norcal or Socal or
The golden algae kill off at LMV is probably the best thing that ever happened to that lake. It may instigate a major growth spurt in what had become a stagnant growth scenario for that lake. With the consistent trout stockings, we may see that lake come back on fire in a number of years. How many y...

Really. One or two more spawns would mean nothing at the population scale. Much more meaningful to ensure getting it certified.
Re: Hybrids
All Micropterus hybridize. However, some more than others. The most common hybrid is between spots and smallies. In CA, Ive seen decent numbers of redeye hybridizing with both spots and smallies, not sure if this combo is common in other states but an educated guess is it is not. Its rare for largem...

Nothing wrong with killing that fish. There is no doubt it was at the end of its life, and the benefits of verifying it as a world record and potential benefits to science (assuming the angler and the taxidermist are receptive to the idea) greatly outweigh any marginal benefit of release. I would ha...

The key to bringing all the lakes back, everywhere, is water, like Rich said. Eisenhower created the interstate highway system. Uh yeah, thats it, the decline in salmon/steelhead is because of the stripers. Other than that, each fish dictates what I do, what I do it with, and how I go about doing it.
