Re: Transducer frequency
When you fish 20 to 60 feet, your transducer frequency should be set to 200 khz. From 60 to 70 feet or so, you can change back and forth between 200 and 83 and see for yourself which frequency is showing the best detail. When you get into water deeper than 70 feet you will normally find that 83 khz ...

The RS-232 COMM wire should not be connected to anything unless you have a marine radio. Check the Data Sources in the Network settings on the menu. I don't have an Elite model to check this setting but on the HDS models there is a "Look Ahead" choice. This puts the cursor at the bottom of the screen. See if you can find that choice and see if that helps. The Elite models don't have as much customization so that may not be a choice.

The transducer is picking up the electric motor "noise" when you actuate the motor. The Minn Kota more than likely has a ground wire that is missing or has come loose. Having a good ground on the trolling motor will reduce the "noise" that the transducer picks up.

The new LSS-2 transducer is about 50% longer. This is because of the much larger crystals contained in the "HD" LSS-2 transducer. This will give you better detail and a little bit further range when compared to the LSS-1. If you want to keep the older version, LSS-1 transducer, then you wi...

You will need to find a map card from that time. The size of SD cards has grown and the old units were designed to read cards the normal size of that era.
My guess is the cards of the day then were 512 MB and the cards of today are 2 gig. The old units can't read a card that big.
