Let the angler control the bass before trying to net it, then lead the bass into the net and lift. Multiple treble hook lures require a net most of the time to reduce injury....to you!

PH & DO matters at the depth the bass are located, not at the surface!
Look at the last 5 tournaments at “world class” bass lakes Casitas and Castiac, 7 lbs was the heaviest bag, 3 lbs won the last event! Not academic it’s a Crisis!

Dr LORAN Hill introduced the Color C Lector and later added the PH probe. I recall thinking the PH level in our local lakes would be a factor and tested the water. The PH always was between 6.8 to 7.2 or nearly neutral 7.0 in every lake. When you think about it we don’t have acid rain that affected ...

Describe your tackle. Without the proper rod/reel any 8” to 10” swimbait is academic discussion.

Today it’s more difficult to define what a swimbait is and what the OP is referring to. The tail question indicates a soft swimbait but not the size ( length & weight) so we guess. The earliest soft swimbaits were salt lures like Worm Kings from 4”anchovy to 16” trout. Ken Huddleston patent on t...

Re: Swimbait questions
Good questions that time on the water will answer. 1. Bass don’t know their size compared to any prey size, it’s a trail and error process. 2. Bigger lures displace more water that a bass can feel via the lateral line sensors and may come to check out the lure from a greater distance. If the lure tr...

Can’t blame everything on C & R as it was at it’s height during the 90’s. What is the problem is prey to predator ratio, bass can’t achieve exceptional growth eating Threadfin Shad as a primary food source, they need high protein crayfish a good mix of soft Ray fish. Castiac is very similar with...

Summer it’s all about the right biat, the right time and location.
Threadfin Shad bite coincides with the Shad spawn. About a 1 week window, it’s on if you are there. That is over by now.
Think Bass Trix Shad Bait fry and 3”-4” Shad reapers.

Casitas opened in 1958. FLMB introduced in the early 70’s or 50 years ago now. During that time span Casitas was basically neat or at full pool with excellent prey to predator ratio and good water quality.
