Re: Ever had problems with HPDI's?
If it only happens when you start it for the first time, there might be a bad connection at your key switch. Maybe condensation gets in there when it's cold, but it evaporates after it's run a while.

Dewayne has it right.
Everything he listed in his post is true, from my experience. I use 50lb Super Braid, and I don't break off. I use rods with enough give in the tip to make casting easier, so I think that's the biggest part. I've had the knot slip right out of the hook eye, when I was using 30lb, but not since I've ...

You should be able to get some Amiosentithsis needles from a med. supply. Those are the ones they use to check the Amnio fluid in pregnant women. They look like they are long enough by themselves.

Use 3M spray adhesive. It sticks to pressure treated lumber. But be sure the plywood is dry before you carpet it. It's stacked wet from the dip tanks, and needs to dry out before you carpet it, or the glue won't stick.

Re: Delta Stripers off the hook right now
Those thing are amazing. I tried to help a guy revive a 28lber last winter back in Elizabeth at Castaic that he'd deep hooked on an ice jig at the bottom of his drop shot rig. He was fishing for largemouth. All I got for my trouble was a shredded thumb. The fish died, and another friend took it home...

I saw people catching them at the bouy line up at the Elderberry end of the Ski Arm. They looked to be casting bait over the bouy line. Last Sunday at Castaic, I was fishing a wall at Sharon's Rest (the lake is down 70'), and I heard a loud thumping, over the roar of the Santa Ana's that were blowing hard. I have an 82lb Motorguide on my Tracker 175, and it's no problem, if you're talking about weight while motoring. It is heavy lifting it up out of the water. If you're not that strong yet, you might want to look at a trolling motor with a lift assist. I know they're out there, I just don't know who m...

Steve,
I found out that, with single axle trailers, radials tend to make them squirelly, that is, they drift when you're motoring. At least, that's what my tire guy told me, and he recommended bias. That's what I'm having put on right now.

Re: Trailer tires
My trailer is a Trailstar.
I keep my tires at 48-50lbs cold, which is what the manuf. recommends.
I am going to check out a "better" tire that my tire guy found for me. I don't know if it's radial or bias.
I'll let you know what happens.

Is there some reason the tires on my boat trailer are bias ply? Would radials work on a trailer, and would there be any advantage to radials?

The silicone caulking in tubes is thick. I'm not sure it's the same silicone used for molds. When we use it to caulk things, it doesn't flow, so it may not make an accurate mold of your lure. If you can't verify that it's the same silcone, but want to try it anyway, I suggest you only buy one caulki...
