Just go out and throw it! Make sure you have 50 - 65 lb. Braid Stiff Rod Frog with Gamma, or Owner Hooks. You don't need MATS!!!. You can work it in open water, some videos on Westernbass.TV Learn to work it on the mats, but also learn to work it off the mats with a walk. Very Short pops of the rod....

I agree with them. Have the Mechanic check the motor it's worth the money. Also! This is an 87 year boat. Make sure he checks the condition of the Transom. Go back and make sure all your ground wires are secured really well, Including the one that goes to your pull car. If you have any loose connections you can cause surging and be blowing your lights. As much as I would like to fish I think it just gets to crazy these days.
I think if I were to go out I would be on the water about 4AM and off by 10AM.
Try to get the boat out before they start lining up.
