Clean and Dry...How clean is clean?
I want to do some pre-fishing up at Lake Comanche, but I am worried that my dirty old boat will not pass inspection. My boat is old (1977) and I have never cared about its appearance, as it is a function of fashion thing for me. As a result I have a scum line on the hull form many Delta trips and my...

What other baits are you storing it with? If you have and soft plastic baits stored with it that may compromise the paint. Also was the bait completely dry when you stored it?

One of the only fish I like to eat is bass. I, like Steve, only keep fish from the foot hill and higher reservoirs. I prefer Spots but have eating largemouth and smallmouth as well. I do not keep many, maybe 5-10 a year, and never over 15 inches. 12 to 15 inch bass make great table fair, and i do no...

I don't know about Dobyns but I saw a Powell prototype at the ISE show in Sacramento. Looked like a good idea but it felt heavy, much like all telescopic rods.

Re: launching hudds
1) Don't worry about the splash 2) Get a swimbait rod. You will make longer casts and will be able to throw the baits all day long without getting tired. It will also make hooking and landing a fish easier. There is no half way with this style of fishing and you can get a good swimbait specific rod ...

The new Berkley 100% floro is the bees knees, but still pricey for me at $20.00 a spool. I bought some Vicious Florocarbon and I like it very much. Some guys got burned by this line in its first run but I was told that the problems were fixed. So far I have had no problems with the line. Very strong...

Dude, the best weay to answer you question is to say this:
Lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-haveyous.
Seriously I have been taking my daughter fishing since before she turned three. It all depends on the child and the patience level of the adult .

Staying in Sacramento you could easily fish both. Clear lake is a little bit further drive than the delta but both are very doable for a day trip. I don't know what to tell you about a boat but there is bound to be someone out here that will be able to help you out.

Never use them, they suck. Don't use them instead of a spinner bait, nor dragg them on the bottom like a jig. Also, never ever remove the skirt of one and put a Basstrix or Money minnow on as a trailer.

That is great news! It takes special people to adopt older children, and they end up being the ones who benefit the most from the process. They will have a great dad, congrats.
We should get our girls together for a play date, and we can talk fishing.

On Castaic I would bet on the Triple Trout, but you can never count out the Hudd. It might also be won on a lesser used bait like a Stocker Trout or perhaps a Rago Tool.

You don't need trailer hooks, a 3 pond bass can eat a Hudd no problem and still get hooked on the standard hook. You are asking for a dead fish if you add a trailer hook. My first swimbait fish died because of the trailer hook I was using and I do not want that to happen again.

Re: 7"senkos?
From November through May if I am throwing a Senko on the Delta it is most likely a 7 incher. If I am blind casting for bedding fish on any of the lakes in Nor-Cal I am throwing a 7 inch Senko. They are great at enticing the bigger fish to bite and you still catch plenty of keeper(and dinks) on them.
