This is my FAVORITE rod. I have a curado on it and use it to flip and drag jigs. A very sensitive rod with braid and a flouro leader you can detect the smallest pecks with this set up, and the hook sets are always solid with this rod. I'll be buying a couple more of them soon.

Dont quote me on this but i believe you only have to have the boat sticker between end of May and October. Its the only time they enforce it. Fishing can be good at times. Traffic should be moderate this time of year.

Re: CONFUSSING PROBLEM AND SOLVING THE PROBLEM
what kind of rod do you use for rips? If your using a really heavy rod this can happen on big fish. I like a little softer tip for rip fish. You dont really need to set the hook hard if you're using a lucky craft or another quality rip bait. All those sharp treble hooks tend to grab the fish without...

You'd be better off taking the hour drive over to eastman lake in madera for bank fishing. There is not alot of areas to fish from shore at pineflat. Eastman has larger fish on average as well.

Also check that all the wing nuts are tight, i had one semi-loose wing nut on one battery which caused its charge to be lower than the other battery. there are a lot of better lakes to fish near millerton. Where does she live? Maybe she's close to Eastman or Hensley. Lots of fish coming out of those two lakes. Easy to catch too. Im not a big fan of millerton myself. The last tournament fished there i think was won with less than ten pounds.

thanks for the advice everyone. I love the braid, i must admit. Mono has its place and i have several rods rigged with it, but the feel and sensitivity, not to mention strength of braid has me hooked. I guess i better do some more side jobs, buy some kvd spray, and respool more often.

no nothing spilled on it. Seems like there is a slick coating on the braid when you buy it, and it sticks to itself after being on the spool a while. Is there anything i can put on the spool to loosen it up?

Yeah, sticky-gummy, its not cutting in to the spool, it just peels off slower because its sticking to itself, like someone sprayed some glue on it. Its not all that bad, but it does shorten the casts a bit.

I believe either will work, but you will need the correct mounting bracket. The puck style is used for the thru hull and trolling motor. A transom mount will work the the optional mounting bracket. I prefer the puck style, because its less likely to be damaged if you hit a rock or something.
