I would pass on the Cardiff it will eventually break. Get a Calcutta 400 or Curado 300. The Cardiff just aint heavy duty enough and will eventually fail. Watch eBay if you want a good deal on a 400.

Google johnscrankbait, He will make what you want painted how you want. I have been using John's swimbaits for years and they work great. They have great durability and action and are not a bait that everyone is throwing so the fish are not conditioned to them.

You know I have Dobyn's, Loomis, Kistler and Powell and all have there time and place. There are a lot of good rods for larger baits just depends how big a bait you want to throw and how you intend to retrieve it.
