Re: Identifying Deep Water Fish
Both carp and channel cats have air bladders that return sonar signal like bass.
Trout usually with small air ladders are swimming returning elongated sonar returns, easy to distinguish. Not sure if Camanche has squaw fish- Pike Minnows they stack up on the bottom in deep water.

Sometimes you need to step back and smell the roses, we are gifted to be able to jig fish year around. Half the country is extremely cold with frozen water in the winter. Puff ball jigs are Lefty’s creation and unique, it’s a joy to look at them and for one I am glad he shares them. Happy New Years,...

Remember the term pig ‘n jig? Well pig means pork rind and jig means a weedless bass jig like Cooch’s Wadda Jig. Cooch fished both but mostly with blue pork rind in the River (Delta).

I don’t use a weedgaurd! I use a (Hitchhiker) spring attached to the jig eye and use a small diameter finesse worm cut 1 1/2”, split the tail to insert the hook point. Adds a little movement, color and scent. Been doing this for decades, works good.
