A silly question?
As most of you know - I love fish photos - whether I am holding one or someone else is. The ability to take good photos is a requirement of my guiding job. I have seen several photos in the photo section of folks holding nice bass with the background being doctored to avoid recognition. I guess I ca...

Re: Curado 100
I use the Curado 100's exclusively now except for swimbaits. They will handle ANY big bass you will hook! Most of my 200's just stored backup line that I never used to land a bass. If you really want a sweet reel for your main rod, try the Chronarch 50 MG. Power in a feather light reel!!

I feel I can speak highly of the Shimano line since I use them constantly with clients - some who have never even done much casting before. I didn't mean the location (area) the fish was caught. I mentioned location (body of water) because that is usually mentioned with the photo - delta, Clear Lake, Oroville, etc. I should have added another sentence to clarify - but it was late! I am just interested in the weight of the fish. I think ...

Bass photo weights (of the fish)!
I wish more anglers who post nice photos of their bass catches would include the weight of their bass along with the location. I guess I am just too curious - I LOVE photos of large bass but hate to have to guess the weight. If there is no scale in the boat, obviously no exact weight. Bass can be we...

Since I work with Loomis and really don't try other brands, I am not an expert on other fine rods. I do know that the CBR 845 and 847 (7 footers) really handle all my cranking needs. Ron - that is absolutely right. When I mentioned Clear Lake and Amador - visability is mostly no more than a foot or two. When Clear Lake was "clear" a few years ago - I was drop-shotting with 10 lb test at the most. I drop-shotted a "hot" 9-7 one Sept afternoon under a deep dock...

Re: Dropshot questions
It depends on the size of the outfit you are using, the line size, and the size of the bass you are targeting. I don't set the hook much at Oroville because of 6 to 8 lb test and the fact that most of the spots arn't that big. Just apply pressure and a little wrist snap. At Clear Lake or Amador, I m...

For numbers of bass and just plain fun, mid-June to Mid August just can't be beat. Spring (Mar-May) is on and off depending on weather, but that is the best chance for a huge bass. You could try topwater and crankbaits in the early morning - and even jigs. The rest of the day you can drop-shot your favorite worms in 20 to 40 feet of water - especially near a deep water drop-off. You will catch bass!!
