I give you credit for even making an attempt without your trolling motor. Most times when my electric fails I put the boat on the trailer and go home.

Only hard core fans of the sport understand how difficult it is to compete at the Elite level. I have much respect for anyone that tries to feed their family tournament bass fishing at any level.

When I first started fishing the Delta over 30 years ago there were hardly any weeds and I remember catching some 13" fish that weighed 3/4 of a pound. They were rails!

I agree with most everything I’m reading here. Whenever I get down in the dumps because the Dirty D isn’t as good as it used to be I remind myself that a tough day on the Delta is three keepers and five dinks, while a tough day on a lake is no bites!

I've also had good experiences at Bullfrog. Speaking of good marina's, I'm a big fan of Tiki Lagun. They have the cheapest gas on the Delta $3.64 for 89 and 3.94 for 91. Heck, I can't do much better than that at home! They now have a good and reasonably priced cafe and bar. The only negative is it d...

Nevermind, join a club. If you are struggling on the delta on slack tides, you need to join a club before fishing the money tournaments. I’m only able to fish 5 hours every two weeks. If you have never fished tournaments, I would suggest joining a club to get a feel of what tourney fishing is about. In most clubs, you can fish as a non-boater, they will pair you up with a boater. To locate a club in your area, just click on the "Interactive" tab above, then click on &q...

Honesty is always the best policy but keep in mind that if the speedometer says 70 your boat may only be traveling around 65 on GPS. I guess the point is don't be silly and say your 20 footer with a 250 only goes 55!

Thanks for the battery explanation, Rod. My boat is so bare bones I didn't understand the need for a big cranking battery, now I do! When it comes to regular old acid batteries, my favorite has always been American brand. They are made over in Hayward and sold at Boatmasters in Livermore.
