The first show had KVD in Michigan doing the lake hopping thing. It was good. The second show had Kriet on 1,000 Islands last year after he came in second at the Classic. It was a little too touchy feely. His new show is pretty much the same thing. It's worth a look!

A lot of guys are switching to the 300e because of comfort. My team partner has several of them and rarely uses his round reels any more. The 300e holds enough 25lb to fish even the biggest baits. I wish Daiwa would get on the bandwagon and make a wide spool low profile baitcaster that is available ...

Re: stockers hit a swimbait?
Trout love to slap at anything, but their mouths aren't usually big enough to eat a lot of bass lures. Nonetheless, I have caught countless solid trout up to three pounds over the years at Lake Silverwood on spinnerbaits and the dropshot. Recently, I have been catching the 3-4 pound pink holdover tr...

Water Temps at DVL
This is my first full winter fishing at DVL and I can't believe the surface temperature is still in the 60's after several cold fronts. Both of my Lowrance temp gauges started at 60 degrees in the morning and got up to 62 degrees in the afternoon on Friday 12/31. Is this because they are pumping in ...

Re: Need help picking a reel
I had a Sol on my Loomis CBR843 and it was too light to balance the way I wanted without adding weight. The rod fishes better with a Zillion. The handle on a Zillion is longer and feels better for cranking. The reason you rarely see used Zillions for sale is they very rarely fail and no one wants to...

There are a ton of choices in this category D.B.! Try the Loomis 844 IMX. I have a couple and they are great jig rods for less money than the GLX. This rod is my all around rod choice and it works great when I throw 3/4 oz. football heads on bluffs. This last summer, I found myself picking up my Mos...

You're getting lots of good advice here Peter. One last thing I would do is drag the line behind the boat at idle for a few minutes with nothing on it at the end of the day, or whenever needed. Hopefully your spinning reel has a large diameter spool. If it doesn't, get one. I use Daiwa 2500 size reels and I replace the T shaped handle knob with an aftermarket I shaped knob so that it doesn't feel like I have a saltwater reel in my hand. Small diameter spools will never handle any fluoro. v...

If you throw reaction baits regularly, it won't take long to gain confidence in the chatterbait. Obviously, low light conditions and off-colored water are the best times to throw any reaction bait. But, don't discount clear water when in the post spawn period because the fry guarding fish will usual...
