It is frustrating when you read about how there's not enough money for public services, but there's enough money for roads going nowhere.
If these folks had to worry about losing their jobs for screwups, like in the real world, they'd probably do a much better job of managing the public's (our) money.

Ray,
A lesser person than myself would say that's because we have standards!
Seriously, I saw that one of our members tied for fifth, and the first three spots were CBC members, too.
Maybe it's splitting hairs, but that's four of the first five to me.

I fish both braid and flouro a lot, and only use conventional monofiliment "nylon" as a leader with braid for top water. I love the no stretch of braid. Much more solid hooksets, even at the end of a long cast. I just have to be more careful playing a fish with trebles, and I change out th...

You may have had a bad production run of your unit. Four years ago, I bought an LMS 320, and it developed "seasoned salt" grain patterns on the view screen. I sent it back, they replaced it, happened again, sent it back again, etc. Short story long, after four units, I demanded and go a st...

V8 juice works for skunk smell on clothes and people, I'm sad to report. Maybe it would work on that stuff. Dish washing liquid cuts oil. Soaking it in warm water and dishwashing liquid might do it, if you wring it out and change the water often. Then put it in the washing machine on hot/warm BY ITS...

The closest I've come is 6lb. I have a Loomis popper rod, XL 8400 power. In other words, it is really whippy. I used it with 6lb to drop shot, but it was too hard to get a good cast without losing the weight. I originally tried to use it to throw 1/4oz Sworming Hornets. I found it was too much work ...

Re: Sunline Japan ONLY product, now available in the USA!!!
Kellen,
You might try stretching your Sunline before you go fishing. Tie it off to something, let out a cast and a half, and put a good, long (ten second) stretch on it. Stretch it until it doesn't stretch any more, when it feels like a fish that's about to break off.
And use KVD line conditioner.

I see how that water color deal might be a problem. But it seems like it could be worked out. It really is all about making sure that fish don't die, and tournament fishing isn't open to attack by idiots.

Mike, As Lance said in a previous post, how about including the cost of a bottle of rejuvenade in the tournament fees? And requiring ice, or ice bottles? Lance, I think including the price of Rejuvenade in the tourney fee is a great idea. I would also check the livewell water at weigh-in. No blue tint, no fish weighed. If it's too expensive to hand it out, how about making it, or something similar, and ice, mandatory? After all, you run the show and set the rules. Re: It’s actually quite simple Ray.
Ron, I look at the distribution of livewell additives, and the requirement for having ice onboard, as positive additions to a tournament's perks, rather than a responsibility. Things like that, with the decrease in fish mortality, would enhance a tournament circut's appeal, and set it a little apart...

I think you're right, Ray. Tournaments could require ice and ice chests, and could provide livewell treatments like Rejuvenade. Make sure the outlet you're plugging into isn't too far from the main panel, or wired with undersized wire, both of which could cause your charger to work too hard and overheat.

Re: charger trouble
Check your battery posts, to see if they're clean. Also check the water level. If you use an extension cord, check to make sure it's a heavy enough gauge. If you're going over 50', you don't want less than a #12 stranded wire. Lots of "homeowner" cords, if they're too long, aren't heavy en...

Terry,
Jeff has a great idea. I know tons of guys who won't fish Castaic in the summer, because of "lice" and heat.
Of course, that's assuming money is the issue. Maybe there's more at play. With so many govt. agencies involved, I wouldn't doubt that there's lots of politics, too.

Cast sidearm, keep your tip low, maybe even in the water. If you keep the line over your index finger, you'll still feel the bite. Flourocarbon lays down better in the wind. I've found I can't fish "feel" baits if I'm drifting, so I do all of the above, for Senkos, Ikas, lighter jigs, and ...
