Re: Elite 5 vs Elite 7 DSI question
The Elite 7 HDI will come with a hybrid transducer that does both 2D and downscan. It can fit on your trolling motor and Lowrance makes a specific mount to put it there that you might have to purchase seperate. You might be able to get by with a hose clamp.

Ken, those controls are only for NMEA2000 sharing. Ethernet is direct sync and should happen everytime the units are turned on with no settings required. If he is having any issues with waypoint sync, the most logical issue is a bad Ethernet cable. Also keep in mind, the waypoints will not sync even...

Re: HDS 8 gen1 to HDS 8 gen 2
There have been some instances of bad Ethernet cables. If you have them connected through the LSS, everytime both are turned on and the LSS is turned on, the waypoints should sync. I believe trails will also sync. If yours are not, you may have a bad cable. There is no setting you have to do to make...

You are basically correct but you will need more NMEA parts. At least one more T and another short drop cable to connect the bow unit. Best advice I can give with the network is draw it out ahead of time on paper so you know what you will need. Off the top of my head a parts list would look like thi...

Look on the back of the boat for an LSS transducer. You can also look under the dash or in the starboard rod locker for the LSS module. If you got the CD it might be there and just not turned on. Go into the System, Advanced menu and make sure Structure Scan is selected and turned on. Once on you wi...

You are essentially correct. With the Gen 2 units, the WiFi module will mirror what is on the master unit. So if you have it on Sonar at the console it will be sonar on your iPad. You cannot control the Gen 2 HDS unit with the iPad. If you use it with a Touch unit, you can control the head unit but ...

I would do as Marc suggests and look at your transducer installation. In rough water, the boat could rock sideways and sometimes a part of the boat or jackplate will block the signal. If mounted to high, foward and back rocking could lift the transducer out of the water. To me, that is what your ima...

If you run the Elite in DI mode there should be no problems. If you run both in sonar mode at 200 kHz they will probably crosstalk and you will get interference.

Only problem is LSS-1 are getting hard to find. That would be your best bet though. You can get a transducer shield that will hold both the LSS1 and the 2D puck transducer right there on your troller. They aren't cheap but they work great.

The 7520 used a 200 kHz transducer, same as the Elite 7 so yes they will cause interference. You could run the Elite in just downscan mode which runs at 455 or 800 kHz. Those won't interfer but with 2D you will have problems.

The power cable for the LCX units will work but you must be sure to cut and cap off the NMEA 2000 power wires. The LCX units could supply power to a NMEA network but HDS or Touch units can't. Is it an Elite 7 HDI? In that case your down imaging will be degraded if mounted in the hull. It will still work but not as well as if on the transom. If it is the Elite 7 without down imaging, a Skimmer can be mounted in-hull but you will be reading temp from inside the hull not water temp.

First thing, I think you are talking about transducer not transponder. The transducer for the LMS-525 is a dual frequency of 50/200 kHz. This would work with either of your new units but ideally you want the PDRT-WBL 83/200 kHz for shooting through the hull. You also don't want the iPad idea for the...
