If you correctly set up a NMEA network, both these units can be connected to it and share waypoints. There is no waypoint sync and no editing of waypoints on one unit and seeing the changes on the other. Each unit must be on for the waypoint to share.

Ethernet cable between the two units is all you need to share, transducers, map cards, and waypoints. Any transducer can be viewed from any unit through Ethernet. The expansion port is for when you get multiple units and don't have enough Ethernet ports. HDS 7 Touch has one port each.
