I use the Mercury Quickare now instead of Stabil. Seems they end up costing the same so I figure why not use the Mercury product. I use it with every gallon of gas to help prevent phase separation from the ethanol fuels.

I almost always use Quickleen with every gallon.

Another vote for the Simms Windstopper gloves. I use the fingerless ones.

When making long runs, especially the first in the morning, I wear some uber thick snow gloves.

I like the Dobyns Champion 734. While usually reserved for feel techniques, I've also used the Dobyns Extreme DX744 with good results.

Mercury does have a new ethanol resistant hose but it only came out in 2007 or 2008. Even this line was starting to show the effects of ethanol. I've been using One Step Detailer from Boatdacious for the last year or so. Best stuff I've found so far. No scum line even when punching! Once every third or so trip keeps the boat clean, slick & shiny.

At the ISE Sacramento show, the guys @ the Dobyns booth said there were going to be a few Savvy models coming wrapped with micros. I didn't ask which models so couldn't tell you more than that.

Had the Dobyns DX742SF out @ Pedro on Thursday. (Man was it cold in the morning!) Really like the rod for both dropshot & flickshake techniques. It is 7'4" long. I feel like the rod allows longer casts - good thing in clear water situations. No downside with the longer length that I can see.

Ash, You should check out the DX795 Flip. I picked it up last year when they first came out. Little lighter tip than the 805 Flip. Still has plenty of power for punching. IMO, more sensitive & lighter in weight. No problem fishing the rod all day. I'll probably get a second one this year. :D BTW...

I never unplug the TM from the bow panel. When I put the boat to bed, I turn off the switch @ the trolling motor pedal. Depending on where you're fishing (lakes vs delta) & how (dragging vs pitching) I'd buy a 4 or 5 power Champion Extreme. Pick your length. DX704 & DX705 are the 7' rods. DX744 & DX745 are the 7'4" rods. Personally, I would go with a 5 power & the DX745 in particular. :D
