Taken fishing twice. Today as I was slinging a 2 lb striper the tip broke about 6 inches down. Glad I had a back up
Got it at Tacklewarehouse. Do I have to send it back?
Gotta say the reason I went straight shimano was the great warranty, but if I have to use the warranty after every fish I'll just go the ugly stik route.
Not happy today.

Re: Shimano Clarus broke on FIRST fish
I have several Clarus 7' med heavy rods that I've used for years. I throw blades, chatterbaits, and jigs on them, on 17lb fluoro or 50lb braid. I've never had a problem with any of them.
You probably got one that had a defect that no one caught.
Give it another chance.
TW will take care of you.

Is it true that Shimano will let you cut the rods in half to reduce shipping cost?
I am what I am and that's all that I am!

Re: Shimano Clarus broke on FIRST fish
I've never had a Shimano rod break on me, but I did have a guide come loose on a Crucial med. bait caster. I was able to take it to a tackle shop that sells Shimano, and they did an over the counter replacement.
I did break another manufs' rod, and they let me send just the blank portion with the rod specs back for warranty replacement. It was about 6" long, and fit in a mailing envelope, so it was cheap to send.
Would that be enough for Shimano, too?

We need the entire rod back to see where it broke and why. You can cut the rod in half to avoid oversize shipping charges.
