A beautiful warming trend sat right down in Ventura County in the nick of time as 21 teams got ready for the third event on the WON BASS Casitas Region team tournament trail. With a steady dose of tough fishing prior to the event anglers were excited as this was the first solid warming trend of the 2016 season. Although the fishing wasn't fantastic there was a dramatic improvement and we got to see our first bit of fish moving into shallow water for the spring season. Cody Cook and Parker Marquez put together a five bass bag totaling 18.28 pounds to capture the victory and $1,750.00 in cash. Once again they used a variety of techniques and fished a huge number of places to put together their sack. In second place are the current leaders in the angler of the year race Brian Evans and Matt Newman as they were able to capture a full limit of fish totaling 17.58 pounds for second place and $1,010.00 in cash for their days work. One of the highlights of the day was Larry Elshere sliding his Triton bass boat into one spot and setting there for the great majority of the day to put together a 17.23 pound catch with just 4 fish. One more bite and Larry would've easily outdistanced the field. With Larry's third-place finish he collected $550.00 in cash and is looking forward to his next event where he will be partnered with his daughter Michelle. Rounding out the money list and collecting the Spencer McKenzies award of $200.00 in cash was the fourth place team Kurt Ebken and his son KC Ebken. Utilizing a drop shot plastic worm for the majority of their catch the Ebken's had a beautiful five bass limit weighing 15.56 pounds. Making that one perfect cast the team of Al Escamilla and his brother Max Escamilla knocked down a 6.36 pound bass to collect the big bass of the day and $760.00 in cash.
