WWBT Shasta Team Event !!! Full Results

Post by J.Bubier »

Hello everyone,
A huge thank you to the "110 Teams" that came out to fish the second WWBT Ca Team event of the year at beautiful lake Shasta. We once again launched out of Bridge Bay Resort as they have done a great job of taking care of the anglers this season with $1.00 off per gallon of fuel at their dock as well as 20% off your meals in the Tail of the Whale restaurant which has great food (their Fish/Chips is awesome). We got a little rain Friday evening but the weather broke and we had a gorgeous morning that made the on the water rules/national anthem a breeze. Just like we promised at 6.59a.m. boat number 101 (1st boat out) came by our boat check dock receiving their snack pack and lead the field to the 5 mph bouy 1 boat at a time, after about 15minutes the last boat out came by us and we wrapped up the morning festivities. On the way up the ramp we stopped and counted the trucks/trailers in the sandy parking area to the north of the launch ramp and I couldn't believe my eyes, my staff parked 87 trucks/trailers in there with not a single issue. They said the fisherman did a great job of following direction (thank you all for that) and that made it a lot easier.

The weigh-in in the afternoon was conducted on the Main Dock to make release of fish and boat retrieval smoother. We had 5 flights of 20+ boats starting at 3:00pm and the last flight was 4:00pm. The weigh-in was completed by 4:12pm and the awards were to be conducted up top at the trailer. We weighed in 724 fish on Saturday afternoon and I am pleased to announce that because of not only the fishermans care, but Don Reighley (aka Fish Whisperer) took excellent care to return all fish back to the lake alive and well. I was absolutely amazed at how many people came out to watch the weigh-in, there must have been 50+ people down on the docks watching and probably another 20+ up top watching from the deck of the marina store. (next time I will set up a PA system so everyone can hear me better during the weigh-in, luckily we had the digital read out for the people in the back, SORRY)

The PayOuts started promptly at 5:00pm and I had just enough time to get the PA system set up and with a little help from the peanut gallery we got the Trophy's out and got started.
The team of Sage Baker/Jon Kenyon had a whooping 28.65lbs with a 6.98 kicker (they had 2 of those kickers) and took home not only the Champions trophy's but the Yamamoto Toad of the Day plaque as well. Their earnings were $6300 1st+$500 BF+$250 Lowrance Contigency+$250 Yamamoto+$250 P-Line = $7,550. The second place team of Randall Doyle/Nick Flanigan had 19.63lbs and received $4,000 plus plaques and rounding out the top 3 was the team of Jared Walker/Jesse Martin with 18.27lbs garnering them a check for $3,000 and plaques as well. The winner of the event was not running an Evinrude Outboard (would have been $1000 bonus) so the highest finishing Team that was compliant received $500 (4th), the second highest received $300 (14th) and the 3rd highest team received $200 (17th). We also draw a ticket for the Win with Lucas Oil Contigency and Jon Bradford was the recipient of the $500 for using Lucas Oil products, congratulations to all of our winners this event and we hope to see you all and many more at the next event. The Full results are below, please forgive for the late post as we had no internet at the location, we at WWBT strive to bring the results as quickly as possible and thank you all for your support. I would like to Thank all of the Staff of WWBT for a job well done, from the bottom of my heart, I could not nor would I want to, do this with out you all. A special thank you to Todd Serna from Shasta Cascade Bass Anglers and Dale from Redding Fishers of Men.

We collected $33,000 in Entry Fees for this event and Paid Back $34,500 at the trailer that afternoon, you will be hard pressed to find that kind of payout anywhere around, so grab a partner and come out to the next event on Lake Berryessa on April 2nd out of Pleasure Cove Marina. Thank you and have a great evening.

Shasta must of ran like a well oiled machine. 110 boats for regular season event is strong. Pay-out looked pretty strong as well. Points race is being worked on and will be up this week. CA Team Championship is on Clear Lake in June for Ranger/Evinrude/Lowrance package. Great job Jason and gang !!!!

That's at least 220 satisfied customers if no one is complaining. And 1980 others that should come out and see what's it's all about. We western anglers should be able to build this into a 150+plus boats at each event.

It's fun, competitive, well ran, and there's a little bit of money to win as well. :D

It don't get any better than this. W.W.B.T.
Great job Jason and crew...The snack packs that were passed out came in handy and the blast off went smooth as silk.
Keep up the good work.
