February Fishing in Washington

Post by ttb31183 »

Catching a bass in February in Eastern Washington is usually a dream or something done through some ice or an accidental catch while walleye fishing. This year has been a little different and a warm spell resulted in many bass anglers getting on the water a little early to catch a few.

I personally waited too long and planned to go tomorrow, until we got hit with a big snowstorm last night. Hoping it melts quickly so I can get out before the end of the month.

Noah Whitten made two treks to Moses Lake and caught some nice smallmouth both time. He reported that the water was still in the high 30's but the bass were biting tubes.

Moses Lake is usually one of the first places anglers fish around here because it is relatively shallow and the area warms up faster than it does further east in Spokane. As you can see, there are not many very deep places for bass to go and that certainly helps find them easier when it is cold. Most of the lake is relatively shallow with a few spots around 30-feet.
