Ranger trailer question-brakes

I have a question on my 2018 Z519 Ranger single axle trailer. I went to clear lake last weekend and after pulling off the freeway to go to the lake the brakes were squeaking loudly. I am guessing that after driving up and down the hills that the surge brake was partially engaged on the trailer and getting hot. Is this common on new boats? My old 2003 Ranger never did this. I locked the surge brake out while driving after that and never heard the squeaky brakes again. Obviously I would like to not lock out brakes but in mountains do we have to with new ones. Thanks again.

Louie this is not normal. Take it by a Ranger dealer and let them take a look at the brakes.
