Cost to repower Ranger 518VX

Post by D-back fishin_23 »

Hey guys, I’m looking to repower my ranger to a new mercury pro XS 200. Currently running an Evinrude Ficht that’s been giving me nothing but problems. Just looking to see whose had experience with this good/bad and can give me an idea on the cost to do it. Also looking for a good shop to do it that knows what they are doing. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you

If you want the baddest outboard out there then go with an Evinrude G2. Not sure if they still have the 10 year warranty promo going. I bought mine from Jet-A-Marina in Kentucky. Have it shipped to Jeremy at C&C in Sacramento and he will rig it right. I'm guessing you will get quoted around $16K with no sales tax. $300 to ship. You will at the minimum need to buy a 3.5 Icon gauge and a kit to convert your existing controls. Well worth it when you leave all those opti's and SHO's in the dust.

I repowered with the 200 Pro XS last fall. My total cost including shipping from Tennessee and installation was $13,600. Mercury had a repower incentive then. Check their web page to see if it is still available. Then I sold my old one for $800 on Craigslist so my net cost was $12,800. I do agree that Jeremy at C&C Marine in Citrus Heights is the guy to talk to.
