NEWS !!!!!

Venezuelan government is sole owner of Citgo Oil company

Venezuela Dictator Hugo Chavez has vowed to bring down the U.S. government. Chavez, president of Venezuela, told a TV audience: "Enough of imperialist aggression; we must tell the world: down with the U.S. empire. We have to bury imperialism this century."

The guest on his television program, beamed across Venezuela, was Cindy Sheehan, the antiwar activist. Also, Chavez recently had as his guest Harry Belafonte, who called President Bush "the greatest terrorist in the world."

Chavez is pushing a socialist (Marxist) revolution and has a close alliance with Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.

Regardless of your feelings about the war in Iraq, the issue here is that we have a socialist dictator vowing to bring down the government of the U.S., and he is using our money to achieve his goal!

The Venezuelan government, run by dictator Chavez, is the sole owner of Citgo gas company. Sales of products at Citgo stations send money back to Chavez to help him in his vow to bring down our government.

Take Action.

Please decide that you will NOT be shopping at a Citgo station. Why should U.S. citizens who love freedom be financing a dictator who has vowed to take down our government?

Very important. Please forward this to your friends and family. Most of them don't know that Citgo is owned by the Venezuelan government.

Breaking News: Chavez announced this past week (Feb.22nd.) that, effective March 1st 2006, Continental and Delta Airlines could not fly into Venezuela, and that American Airlines flights would be restricted.

Here's the proof of ownership: http://www.citgo.com/AboutCITGO.jsp

Companies are in bed with each other. Just as countries are in bed with each other. It's too bad that the world couldn't be black and white. Life would be so much simplier.

Any way you cut it, oil money always finds its way into the hands of people we're not happy with. The Chinese are communist, how many things do you buy that are made in China...practically everything. Almost all of the components that go into fishing rods I build are made in China. :?

Press release from ESPN/BASS:

Effective 01MAR06, the CITGO Bassmaster Classic will be renamed "The CITGO Bassmaster Classic Presented by El Presidente Hugo Chavez"

I brought the Venezuela topic up Monday afternoon but the thread was deleted by the Powers That Be for some reason...

Gator,

It wasn't actually my post that was deleted. I posted a response to a thread originally started by JIGS where he brought up the issue regarding the UAE taking over the operation of our ports. He rhetorically asked something to the effect of, "what's next, are foreign powers going to start taking over all american activities now?" I'm paraphrasing, of course but that's the gist of it.

I then posted a sorry-to-break-it-to-you type response stating that an "All American" event like the CITGO Bassmaster Classic was actually sponsored by a company owned by the Venezuelan government (an entity that does not hold the US in very high esteem). I was pointing out the irony that one of our most "All American" events is sponsored by one of the most anti-American countries in the Western Hemisphere.

And then the thread disappeared. Maybe the original poster deleted it...

The world is all messed up to put it in nice words. Have you checked Wall street and oil sales? I believe you will find the U.S. buys oil from that country in about 3rd or 4th place on the list. Do you think congress/senate and whatever president is in office, will stop buying oil from them? I do not think so, money to be made.Bill K :(
Fun fishing the country, each and every week.

It's likely that I deleted it when I got back from my vacation. The original post had nothing to do with fishing of any sort unless you consider the words 'port' as having something to do with fishing. I recevied several emails while I was gone asking why we continually allow non-fishing threads to build in the forums.

I'd ask that we keep our subjects at least some what fishing related. We've experienced problems in the past when politics creep into the forum. Many use this forum as a bit of an escape from the day to day news type stuff. I'd also submit that there ins't any more easily argued about the politics and religion and we try to keep both out of the fourm unless it's fishing related. We also opened up a political forum for folks to use and they went unused and were shut down.
