BETHEL ISLAND (CBS SF) — Firefighters in the East Bay stopped forward progress of several wind-whipped wildfires that erupted early Sunday morning on Bethel Island and near Oakley in rural Contra Costa County.
However a new fire in Clayton forced new evacuation orders at around 8 a.m.
One of the early morning fires triggered the evacuation of residents of a mobile home park and a neighborhood, fire officials said.
Evacuation orders for both the Summerlake fire and the Knightsen Avenue fire were later lifted and East Cypress Road was set to reopen for residents to return home
