Motel 6 in Redding question?

Post by JT-Madera »

I was thinking of staying at Motel 6 in Redding for the Stren-Shasta tournament... Since I will be fishing as a Co-Angler I would have to leave my boat at the motel parking lot... Has anyone heard of any security issues there??

Any suggestions Please...

Thanx for the help!!

Two things...

1) If you haven't made your reservations there by now, it may be too late (but maybe not),

2) I have heard of security issues there in the past, but not recently. Be sure to lock all of your compartments and keep your boat covered (Out of sight - Out of mind). Don't forget to lock your trailer hitch onto your truck (or remove it) and lock your trailer tongue latch.

Mr. Turner,

I have stayed there a couple of times in the recent past and have not heard of any issues, but including what Ron says, I would also either remove your prop of get a prop lock. Props are the only thing I have heard of getting taken up in that area at all.

The motels in Redding area have all( for the most part) had some problems with theft, but it is very limited. The Motel 6 at Twin view blvd and the Shasta dam motel ( I-5 north) are probably the safest.
Another option is to ask Phil at Phil's Props if you can park over on this side lot during the day. But as Ron C says lock/cover for more
eye protection, etc. Bill K :)

Finished a remodel in Feb. Double check on Power, light poles in south parking lot, may trip breakers when multiple boats plugged in. Hate to wait until AM to find out... Good Luck

As I said the motel 6 at Twin View is one of the safer, but it had a boat taken out of the lot last fall and found stripped on a county road later. I would diffenantly ask Phil as I mentioned or Chris at Angler's Attic, on Twin View & Caterpillar way to park the outfit on their lot, during the day, when you are up on the lake. Bill K

Stay away from Shasta Dam Motel. There are new owners and its going down hill fast.
