LAB UPDATE ON CLEAR LAKE CYANOTOXIN LEVELS:

UPDATE: We responded to 3 blooms on the shoreline 7/13-7/15 and used in house preliminary Abraxis toxin testing on those 3 sites.
Front St: ELISA confirmed Danger Levels
Lower Lakeshore Dr, Clearlake (LKSHR01): Preliminary confirmed Danger Levels
Windflower Point (WF01): No Detect
================

At our last sampling event on 7/7/20, we collected water samples from 23 sites on and in the lake. Cyanobacteria blooms were in most locations, so we further reviewed those samples by microscopy and Abraxis field strips to get preliminary toxin data. Water samples from 13 sites were sent off for Microcystin cyanotoxin or toxin producing genes analysis.

3 sites came back above the California Warning Trigger Level:
SHADY01 13.4 µg/L
RED01 9.06
SBMMEL01 8.33

4 sites came back above the CA Caution Trigger Level:
JB 5.42 µg/L
AP01 5.17
ELEM01 2.79
BP 2.64

3 sites came back below the CA Caution Trigger Level:
LUC01 0.75 µg/L
HB 0.16
RODS 0.15

2 sites are presumed to have Microcystin toxins due to lab results showing levels of Microcystin producing genes:
CLV7
KEYS03

1 site had no Microcystin producing genes:
BVCL6

The remaining sites monitored had site conditions, microscopy and Abraxis in house preliminary testing that showed a low likelihood of toxins:
UBL
KEYS01
SC01
CLOAKS01
GH
LS2
LPTNT
CP
LC01
KP01

Summer sampling of 2x/month is now occurring. Our next sampling date is July 21, 2020

Please note that conditions can change between sampling events and avoid areas with blooms and practice safe recreating for you, your loved ones and your pets in the lake.

If you are experiencing any symptoms or illness after being exposed to the lake, contact your physician and also report your illness (check yes for human or animal illness on this online form) at https://mywaterquality.ca.gov/habs/do/bloomreport.html
