24 volt to 36 volt
24 volt to 36 volt
I’m sure this has been covered but I want to buy a new Ultrex for my 2013 Ranger which is a 24v system. If I convert it to 36v I can get the 112 lb thrust motor. My question is, is it hard to convert it over and second, would I have to buy a new charger as well? Thanks!!

You'll need to add an extra battery and go to a 4 bank charger.

And, You Probably Will Want To.....
upsize the power supply wiring from the battery location(s) thru the gunnels to the bow. Years ago I converted from 12v to 24v and problems followed - power loss when metered at bow and circuit breaker even when replacing with larger capacity assembly.

90% sure your wiring is sufficient for 36v, but you'll need to add 1 more battery, Jumper wire, and either a 4 bank charger or an additional 1 bank charger. You'll also need to upgrade to a 60amp breaker.

Mitch you are the man! Thanks. I wouldn’t have thought about upgrading the breaker.Mitch wrote:90% sure your wiring is sufficient for 36v, but you'll need to add 1 more battery, Jumper wire, and either a 4 bank charger or an additional 1 bank charger. You'll also need to upgrade to a 60amp breaker.
Re: 24 volt to 36 volt
Minn Kota has a really good guide on their website regarding wiring size .
It wasn't real clear on mixing of battery group sizes . I just went to a 24V system and have one 27 and one 24 , so I assume my run time will be mainly limited to capacity of the group 24 .
