From Restore the Delta

HEALTH ALERT: Avoid Harmful Algal Blooms in Delta waters!
Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) are a threat to health and public safety in the Delta.

Our Delta Counties are not doing a good job of notifying people to be cautious near waterways in Downtown Stockton, Smith Canal, near Windmill Cove, Discovery Bay and Big Break in Antioch.

Here are some more photo examples of the 2021 toxic algae season. https://www.restorethedelta.org/2021/06 ... ta-waters/

These waters are not safe to ingest, not safe to touch, not good to breathe in, boat through, or for your dogs to jump in.

For bacteria levels etc. visit https://mywaterquality.ca.gov/habs/.

Please note, we think our photo documentation is more recent than the last testing round. The state will be testing again next week. And yes, they are doing a great job working with us and San Francisco Baykeeper. Team work!

The State Water Resources Board is more concerned about getting water to San Joaquin nut farmers to raise crops for export at below-delivery cost prices than they are about people's health. Evidently we don't contribute enough to the politicians who control that board to warrant concern.
