8 or 10 " Hydraulic for a 520c

Post by Fast Eddie »

Water is splashing over the transom (just like the old days) so I'm looking at installing a hydraulic jack plate (Bobs), is 8 enough or should I go 10. Then there's the power poles. I've been told there is a special mounting bracket for them, of course at an extra cost. Any help appreciated.

Don't know about the power pole brackets, but you'd probably be best served by talking to an informed person from Ranger or a Ranger dealer who could explain which might be best suited for your boat. If I'm not mistaken, most of the factory boats although they use Atlas plates tend to utilize 8" plates. I have a 521c but I use the Bob's 10" hydraulic plate.

I have a 2014 Z520c and it comes stock with an 8” jackplate. Pretty sure that is the correct size. I run 8 foot blades and get no splash back from my pole brackets. If you are getting splash back, my guess is that your power pole brackets are mounted too low.
