With California facing a severe drought and an increased reliance on the state’s groundwater basins, DWR has released the final version of California’s Groundwater – Update 2020, a report containing critical information on the use of groundwater. Groundwater use is especially important right now as California faces the real-time impacts of climate change and drought.

DWR has also developed a companion website, California’s Groundwater Live, to improve access and timeliness of statewide groundwater information for water managers and the public. The website’s real-time data will help generate greater awareness and improve understanding of groundwater to make more informed decisions when it comes to sustainably managing groundwater.
