Non of the above.
‘71 I designed my own jig head design to go through rocks better then a football head and stand up about 30 degrees. The line tie is on top of the head near the nose helping the head go through rocks similar to the football head, in lieu of on the nose like a swim jig that is more weedless but slides into rocks.
My goal for this jig was to increase the distance between the hook point and jig head to improve hook setting when casting over 100’ to 150’ or horizontal jigging.
Initially used Eagle Claw 530 hook then changed to Gamakatsu 111 followed by 604 and 114, using the same mold. The 114 is a forged medium wire hook ideally suited for horizontal casting jig in deep rocky structure lake typical in western reservoirs.
I credit this jig for my success catching lots of giant bass over the years.

Tom , The description of your jig head sounds pretty close to a jig that Randy Blaukat is selling he calls the "Old School Jig" tied with living rubber . Have you seen his jig yet and if so how does it compare with your design ?

My jig is different, hook eye isn’t on the the nose or a flat eye short shank hook.
The head is the viper shape.

I have 8 rods on deck all the time 6 spinning outfits with 4, 6 and 8 lbs green maxima line and two casting outfits with 8 and 10 lbs green maxima line i use alot of 1/8oz 1/4oz 3/8 oz.jigs in the winter at 25 to 50 feet of water this time of year. I will go 1/2oz and 3/4oz arkie and football head jigs if I fish deeper than 50 feet but not very often at that. I carry a lot of sizes and different styles of jigs in my boat. There are to many lakes around here not to be fishing in that depth of water. Every lakes is different structure wise.

The good old days when square Living Rubber
In fine regular and heavy grade was still being made.I tied a lot of jigs back in the day with all three grades. I was making mop jigs with 7" and 8" inch skirts in the mid to late 70s in fine and regular grades and using uncle josh big daddy pork in brown or black on Eastman and Hensley lakes. The best winter time baits we every used. That was some really great times.

The puffball and Lions collar finesse jigs are year around baits but really come in play in the winter months. Both in silicone and Round rubber material with added accents.

Yes indeed! I bought everyone that Phil's had in Brown Orange a few years ago. Still have some left. Best one available now is the Bass Patrol, actually has a better hook than the old Rodstrainers. And I really like the recessed line tie. I prefer the round rubber skirts. They are also a bargain compared other similar jigs.

3 come to mind.

#1 Keitech football jig. Almost always have one of these tied on. Caught more fish on these than almost any other bait.

#2 For bulkier (anything over 1/2 oz) jigs I like dirty jigs.

#3 Ive really been impressed with Beast Coast jigs lately. I like their colors, their hooks, and theyre super sensitive.
