Re: big bass podcast
Having lived the FLMB introduction from the beginning the pod cast was of interest however some of info was inaccurate but generally correct. I was a Pieces member and still a Silver Eagle.
The initial FLMB were held in ponds at the Lake Miramar location as the dam was being built then transferred to Upper Otay.
I held the Lower Otay record for 3 days, caught a 14 lb 5 oz that was superseded the next Saturday by a 14lb 7 oz bass.
We believed the FLMB wouldn’t strike artificial lures so crawdads, waterdogs and mudsuckers were the primary bait used. DeLong Otay spl 9” brown/black vain floater was the 1st artificial lure that caught FLMB and jump started the hand pour worm business.
I caught all my giant bass on hair jigs w/pork trailers a secret held for decades.
