Castaic Lake Drawdown - Here's the Latest

Post by Ron C »

As expected, Bill Siemantel is absolutely correct regarding Castaic Lake dropping its water level. Here is an e-mail message that I just received from Castaic Lake Sr. Lifeguard John Ragsdale:

RON:

We have been informed that lake will drop 100 feet in November for repairs. You may recall it was dropped 80 feet in 1994 to repair Elderberry Dam in the forebay. It has not been down a 100 feet since the 80s. We hope that the repairs are done quickly and the lake brought back up to normal before the Spring so the spawn will not be affected.

Hopefully it will not come up to fast and there is a fish kill.

Pretty good opportunity to plant some great structure and at least get some great video/pictures of all the offshore structure. I fished a few tournaments there in 1994 and the bite was still ok. No time to panic, time to make things better! Maybe we can get the logboom agenda started. Rick G.

Anyone have a pilots license?

Post by Brian D. »

I have a friend who is nearly finished logging hours to get his license. Maybe I'll go up with him with a video recorder and tape the lake while its down.

Is there any way to do something about the Striper population, all you can catch or something like that. It doesent look good for a couple of generation of bass
