Not One Tournament Legal Catch in This Post...

Post by Bob La Londe »

... but a lot of fun. We caught them all trolling crankbaits.

I had a blast. Caught more fish in an outing than I have in a long time. Gary snapped a few pictures.

This was the 1st one we got.

Then another not too long after...

We got a few more, but quit taking pictures, and then we nailed our 1st smallmouth. A cute little guy. I was excited.

And another... This one I thought was close to four pounds on the water, but looking at the picture now I am thinking it was only a little over 3. I'll say this. He fought hard. He actually made me work to get him in the boat.

I was trolling two rods. Both had the same bait, but different sizes. The one I caught most of my fish on was the same bait Gary was trolling. I have no clue what was different, but Gary never got a bump that I am aware of and I kept catching fish. Maybe its just that I needed a good day out or maybe Gary was secretly cutting the hooks off his bait when I wasn't looking. Either way he was a great host and a good guide today.

On our second to last run before heading in I hooked a small one on one of my rods. Since it was a small fish I told Gary to just keep going and I'ld ski him in on the surface. I saw my other rod jump a bit, while I was unhooking the little guy. As I tossed my catch back in I decide there really was a fish on the other rod, and caught this guy.

It would have been a great way to finish the day, but we got one more on our last pass. Just another rat that might have hit keeper size.
