WON Pro/Am June 9-10 Konocti Harbor Rates

Goodness. $169 for Thursday night, $199 for Friday night and if you want to stay Saturday, you also have to buy tix to see the Charlie Daniels Band.

I asked if that was still true for those of us fishing the tournament ... answer, yes.

So ... why again are we launching from this place?

try the "Creekside lodge", its just a few minutes awy from konocti resort !,their rates are less than $60.00 a night !ph# is 800-279-1380......bassrman

wow you scared me.. i just checked my confirmation slip and its 89 for friday and saturday night and no requirement for the show saturday night ..?? who gave you that info ?????maybe this was for last minute reservation . possibly the block for won bass is already filed. this is why we always make reservations as sooon as dates are announced ..

I actually got that data when I called in on Monday. I was put on a long hold and then spoke to a lady (did not get her name) and those were the rates I was quoted. I then confirmed ... is that the BEST rate you have for those of us fising the WON Pro/Am on those days? Answer: "Yes sir."

So ... I'm staying 20 minutes away at the Casino for $79. It is not a huge deal, but I'd rather stay at the launch site and I would have been fine paying $100 per night ... but those rates were absurd and I sure as hell ain't going to a concert.

Now that I know the port channel freezes up ... the 20 minute drive is looking like a blessing! Certain things in life are just a necessity!

My price was $89 a nite, but I made reservations a couple months ago. My bet is that all the cheaper rooms are booked and they only have the more expensive rooms to rent at this point. Next time get the reservations early. You can always cancel if you decide not to fish a tournament.

WOOCH: Not sure if you mean my report was "bogus" (not factual) or if the reality of the situation was "bogus" (a crummy deal).

I assure you that what I posted is factually what happened to me on Monday when I called. I think WON Bass Pro/Ams are great events and I love the job Hutch and his crew do. I was not complaining about them, just commenting that it appears to me the Resort is hosing fishermen (or at least just me).

I've had much better experiences staying in Lakeport proper or at the Casino.

I'm fishing the event no matter where I have to stay. I'll even go to the cheapest roach-trap in downtown Clearlake with the meth-heads and speed-freaks if I have to! That will make me feel safe.

The early bird gets the worm.

WON BASS did have $89 angler rates set aside for the tournament. However, some people wait until the last minute to book thier reservations. The hotel offers the special rates up to a certain date, then they have to release any open rooms for general booking. With Charlie Daniels in town, I don't blame the hotel for utilizing this practice. Everyone else does, so why not Konocti? THis is why we often get on WesternBass.com as well as publish this information in advance in WON BASS to encourage anglers to book thier rooms early.

The same holds true for airlines. If you book 2 days before you fly, you will pay more than if you booked 2 months in advance. I'm sorry that Konocti is using sound business practice to make the most money they can, but WON BASS did indeed have good group rates for this event. Sorry you did not take advantage of them.

Hutch and everyone else,

Everybody does the best they can including that hotel. I poke fun at it but I stay there all the time because I do enjoy it. I really just cant afford it right now. trying to make people laugh is a good thing... reality is that after fishing dark to dark all i care about is that the bed is there and the shower works. looking back, if I would have saved my money instead of watching all that porn i could have stayed there a year! I need some parental control in my life!!!
