Reno Cabela's - WOW

Post by Basslab »

I drove up to the new Reno Cabela's this morning on their "personal" invitation, actually anyone having a Cabela's Visa was invited today and when we drove by around 10:30 I couldn't believe the parking lot. Not only was it full but the overflow parking was overflowing! Well we went in anyway without having a cart for our goodies but it was so packed and the checkout lines were sooooo long that we decided to walk over to Boomtown for some buffet lunch returning about 2 hours later. Glad to say that the crowds had somewhat diminished and we got on with our shopping. They don't have as large a plastic department as they have at BPS but most of the necessary goodies were there along with all type of rods and reels. Good selection of boat accessories and a humungous hunting, camping and clothing dept. Have an indoor archery range where you can try out your new bow before purchasing it. My buddy was looking for a new rifle but couldn't even get close to the counter it was so jammed so can't say what they had for selections. A fairly large restaurant and all around nice store. Most of the cashiers were still new at the job and it was a little slow but they were overwhelmed with the crowd and most hadn't even had lunch or a break since 6: AM and they were showing it. So now when the little woman wants to go to Reno, I'll be sitting in the truck waiting for her to load up.

Len. I was going to drive over and check out the pre-opening, but decided it probably would be a PACKED house so stayed home and will go another day. From your description I am glad I waited. Will be good/fun to check out another day.. Tight lines and thanks for the report. Bill K :)

basslab hit it right on the nose. got there about 1:00 and most of the crowd at the cash register had subsided. got some up close parking, but still a busy place. not as big as some of the others cabela's stores i have been too but still a great place. fishing/boating selection was better than i've seen else where and they had some neet stuff. next trip will be in the spring cause i spent way to much. at least it was triple point day.

tight lines

Hey Basslab, sounds like it might be a cool place to visit, after the newness has worn off, and the crowds drop off a bit.... and then on a weekday, of course.

Do they have a giant freshwater aquarium, or waterfalls, or any kind of cool indoor landscaping ? I love that stuff.

If the new Reno Cabelas is styled like the other ones (stone, natural cedar, high ceilings, etc) they look so cool ! I'd own a house like that if I had money.

Cabela's only sells boats at select stores: Cabela's Boat Centers

They appear to primarily sell Lowe fishing boats but
they do sell Ranger and Stratos Bass Boats at some locations.

Did they had those baits I was looking for?

This having to work stuff is the pits sometimes.

Oh yeah, they have fish tanks with all types of fish but it looks like they haven't found any really big bass yet or they were well hid when I was checking them out. Very high ceilings and you'll love it.

Lacey, WA Cabela's Opened Too!

Post by Marc »

Today I attended the media preview for the Lacey, WA Cabela's. It is open to the public tomorrow.

This is the 3rd largest Cabela's in the world, and it has it all. Freshwater aquariums, waterfalls with trout stream, mountain, archery shooting range, and on and on.

And yes, it has lots of boats, including Rangers and Stratos, with your choice of engines from the big three. They have a Z520 on the showroom floor, and more outside!

I'll be back there on Sunday promoting Ranger Boats/Evinrude Motors. Hope to see some of you there!

I was at the Cabelas in Boise, Idaho this past weekend. Nice store, lots to see, but no real bargains that I could see. Prices were about the same as you find here in the Sacramento area.

I am lucky enough to work for the new store in Post Falls, ID. We just opened two weeks ago and it has been PACKED every day since we opened. It's an amazing store, we have something like 230 reels on display and not enough room to show everything we have.

The fish tanks are smaller than I expected, but at least we got to go out and catch the fish for the tanks. We have largemouth, smallmouth, pike, crappier, perch and bluegill so far.....Can't wait to bring in some hawgs in the spring.

I made the drive up today and personally I was somewhat disappointed and here is why: Not one thing could I find that wasn't the same price as their catalog. Not one thing marked "grand opening price" or "sale price" or "Christmas" or anything like that. Had to visit once but thats it for me; besides Sportsmans Warehouse in Rocklin has Cosmos Corn. :( :(

I'm very excited to go check it out at the beginning of Dec. I went to Boomtown for my 21st mid nov and won some giftcards through boomtowns hourly giveaways. I'll be sure to go on a weekday... hopefully stay away from the big crowds
