engine tilt & trim issue

Post by Patrick »

I have a 2007 Merc 150 OptiMax with Power Tilt and Trim on my 285XL Stratos. I park it in my garage, the motor down with the skeg about 5 inches off the concrete.
I have noticed that the engine will lower itself over a 2 week time period so that the keel is about 1 inch off the concrete.
Is this normal?

Patrick,

I've seen this problem in the past and it's typically indicative of a boat that's a lemon.

I would suggest you donate the boat to a youth fishing organization and give ALL of your tackle to one of the members of your Bass club. Preferably someone with the initials P.S.

Sounds like you have a ever so slight leakdown on the trim motor/unit. But if you have no fluid leaks it probably is so slight to cause no problem. But if it is leaking then new o-rings or seals would probably be a good idea. Bill K :)

Make sure the tilt cylinder is properly filled and bled. There may be some air in it causing it to bleed down.

Cause: lunar proximity Remedy: reverse your boats position in your garage

backlash: Thanks for your input. It was the only one that made sense and I did exactly what you suggested and it worked. Very grateful.

Try the blue little pill....... it will keep things up. LOL....Just call your doctor if things stay up for over four hours

No really sounds like your seals are leaking through and will need replaced. Bring your boat to C&C marine in Modesto and they will repair it quickly.
