thats not a sale, powell is actually loweing the price on their rods by $30 so from now on thats what they will be whether they are in stock now or not. unlike the curado deal this one is going to last...its not a limited time deal from what i've heard. everyone who carries powell will be lowering their prices within the next few days including the shop that i work at.

Powell Rods Announces New Lower Pricing Structure on Powell Max Bass Rods

Novato, Calif. – As the cost of living seems to increase daily and retail prices continue to climb nationwide, the burden of those increased costs land squarely on the shoulder of consumer. The fishing industry is no different, as prices of goods have steadily climbed in recent history.

Powell Rods knows that increased costs can have an effect on an angler’s ability to enjoy their pastime and the company has taken steps to help alleviate some of the pressure brought on by rising costs.

Immediately Powell Rods will institute a new, lower retail price on all of their popular Powell Max Bass Rods. The new price points will be $139.99 for all rods seven feet and shorter, while all rods longer than seven feet will retail for $169.99.

Keith Bryan, President of Powell Rods, said that the new pricing structure is the result of working with current suppliers to procure materials and components with the long run in mind. “Our Powell Max bass rods are made with the highest quality components, and that is not going to change,â€

Try the 704 or 705, I think you'll find those to be better for those two jig sizes.

I throw casting jigs on a 704, has handled them well, I think it's a good all around jig rod for the lakes.

Hey Dave. DanO is right on with this one. Though the 703CEF is extremely versatile, the 704CEF is ideal for the technique you mentioned.

I love my 734 CEF for football heads 1/2 up to 1 oz. It also makes an awesome C-Rig rod as well as an open water frog rod. It is one of the most versatile rods I own and I love it.

I agree, the 734 is the best rod I've ever used for 1/2-3/4oz jigs. In the wintertime I'm using that rod more than any other I have. Go Powell!!

Most definitely for that size jig, try the 734. It's a perfect match and as has already been said, probably one of the MOST versatile rods by anyone out there!

Powell Rods were on True Bass last year and I noticed every time ( I think it was Keith) stuck a fish, this great music played in the background. Pow, da to da ta da, da, etc. I thought that was cool. Neat action commercial.

Greg, you should try the 734 or the 765 cb/sbr, however i prefer the 734. All around reaction rod, topwater, buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, chatter baits, and you can also use for flipping. I have used it for senkos and its great for swimmin a jig.
