Hey Greg, they couldn't drink beer for a month before the events so that would eliminate most Bass Fishermen. Dan

I bet if you asked any of the top pro's like Skeet Reese or Ish or KVD if they could fish for an olympic medal, would they. I figure they'd all jump in line to qualify and go for the gold! It'd be awesome. Individual and team events in the Olympics. Yeah, guys would jump at it if it was possible.

Bass Fishing doesn't belong in the Olympics, just like BMX and Snowboarding, those don't belong either!

Bass Fishing is a pseudo-sport. Now that's not to say that many of the people competing are not athletes, but it just doesn't fit. Same deal with snowboarding/BMX, these are "Extreme Sports" what the hell is the X-Games for if they can be in the Olympics.

Now there are also things that should not be in the Olympics...Curling, what the hell is that! Anything that requires ice, a rock and a broom, that's just not a sport!

If we put bass fishing in the Olympics, lets only have a couple qualifying tournaments every 4 years and then we can just get rid of the stupid Bassmaster Classic, who ever cared about that!

there's my rant for the day,

If you look at the people who are really good it is a sport. If you look at the average stick it is an activity. You can jog a mile or you can run a 4 minute mile, you decide, a sport or an activity.

I guess the Olympic committee also decided baseball wasnt a sport either as they are removing it from the olympics after this year.

With that being said, I dont think skate boarding, bmx etc belongs either and was just a way to make the olympics relevant to our generation and generation Y.

I think MMA will be an olympic sport before Bass Fishing - and as indicated not every country has bass fishing - so would the olympics introduce invasive species to host a game?

There are a lot of "sports" in the Olympics that really should not be there..Figure skating and floor exercises in gymnastics are two of them..Certainly the contestants are athletic and must be to do some of the routines they do, but the actual events are more artistic than they are athletic..

Take a kid fishing, and don't forget about us older kids either..

To my mind it certainly is an 'outdoor sport' and they have included others activities/competition such as shooting and archery. How about rhythmic gymnastics? Trampoline perhaps? My favorite, Table Tennis.

The following sports, though not contested in the Olympic Games, are recognized as Olympic sports by the IOC:

* Air sports
* Bandy
* Billiard sports
* Boules
* Bowling
* Bridge
* Chess
* Climbing
* Cricket
* DanceSport
* Golf
* Karate
* Korfball
* Lifesaving
* Motorcycle sport
* Netball
* Orienteering
* Pelote Basque
* Polo
* Powerboating
* Racquetball
* Roller sports
* Rugby
* Squash
* Sumo
* Surfing
* Tug of war
* Underwater sports
* Water skiing
* Wushu

I could easily see fishing fitting in as a demonstration sport.
