I like Hamby's because they have a nice taper on both ends that look good. The Keelgard are cut square on the ends. I put a Hambys light on my last boat and it was excellent. The Hamby's original is better because it is thicker but it costs way more and can only be dealer installed.

You'll have to call a dealer for the Hamby's original but I bet it will run around $500 installed. I put a Hamby's light on my last boat. Installed it myself and got it on close-out from Fishermans Warehouse for $90. You can find deals if you look. I haven't put one on my present boat and don't plan to. How often do you beach your boat? I have never in 2 years so won't put another keel guard on.

Look at the Keel Shield, not KeelGuard. They are not the same, and the Keel Shield is made by the people who make the Hamby's product and they are fantastic people to work with. Keel Shield or Hamby's Lite can be installed at home and will last a long time if you follow the directions explicitly. The Hamby's Protector is stronger than the KS or HL models but it must be installed by a dealer that has the proper installation tools.

Gene at The Hook ordered a Keel Shield for me (at a great price, thank you!) that I installed it on my Skeeter a few years ago and it's as good as new but I followed the instructions as they were printed. And while it is true that I rarely if ever beach my boat, I don't worry so much about hitting any of the numerous submerged objects out in the delta!

KeelShield

Here's the best retail price you will find. It comes dropshipped straight from the factory - made in the US - has the best warranty - and shipping is free.

Yessir, Dan. You can run that puppy right up to the eye if you want. If you are worried about coverage along the bottom, just get the next longer size and trim it to fit. They do make a short piece that goes around the eye if you want, or you can just paste it full length where you want it. It doesn't need to go all the way back anyway!

Here is a link to a write-up that I did over on BBC on my Keel Shield installation:

http://bbcboards.zeroforum.com/zerothread?id=112038

Unfortunately they have reduced the picture size since it went into the archives but I can dig up the originals and email them to you if you want.

I'd be more'n happy to help you put one on your Triton if you want to put on on!

Thanks Jigs and Ken --

This is what I am mostly looking for to go infront of the eye hook - I got a 6" section that I want to cover from the trailor roller.

And then run possibly a 9'er from below the eyehook to end... :?:

I know your How-To is still on here for your install Ken ! I'll try to dig it up later.

Thanks Everyone and Cheers,
Dan

You will not be dissappointed when you go with a Keelshield. It will hold up and is a great add on to any boat. Plus, its easy to install. I can't click on the links, but if you are interested in buying any color keeshield. Contact me and I can send you a price.

You won't regret buying a keelshield.
