hrvestuff, Marty,Craig, Do We Need A Hawk In The Hen House ?

Post by Guy Kelley »

While watching the debate, It occurred to me as Mc Cain was talking about all of his war time & political experiences as a Hawk defending our Country by starring into the eye's of our enemy's. That he is a War Time Hawk !

What do I mean ? Simply. that he is a soldier of war ! And a Great Defender of Our Country !

This is not meant to put down or belittle his efforts or lessen those who have sacrifice their lives in defense of Our Country !!!!!!!

But ! When asked, He stated He would increase military spending and raise the level of sanctions against those country's who are viewed as to be a threat to our Country or it National Interest. Most as the Middle East, Korea and The Soviet Union.

By the way, not a word was said about our own boarders here or what is going on with South America ( Hugo Chavez ) or The Mexican Drug Cartels.

He started to remind me of the time we had a Iron Curtain and Cold War going with The Soviet Union. How we spent untold Billions on national defense, built our armies with the draft and loss the war in Vietnam, all to spread our form of Democracy through out the world, guised in the form of freedom and the American Way Of Life ! All we have to do is look at Korea and what that sort of thinking has done to a divided country and the Fall Of Russia. We broke their BANK!

Some times I wonder are we as a nation or people any better off for it?

Do we as a National Mandate to the World, Are required to spread our form of Democracy throughout with out being asked for or even wanting it by those who appose it ? Is our form of Government better than the people in the Soviet Unions ?

In spite of all our best efforts, billions spent, loss of Human Life, 9/11 still happened ! Are we as a people any safer, or is the world a much more dangerous place now that We have Said That Radical Islam and its spread, needs to be rooted out were ever its found and stamped out, because we think we have the right too ? But by doing so we have created a much more dangerous situation for us at Home as well as abroad in the name of Democracy ! Aren't we doing the same thing when we said " Better Dead Than Red "

I think that Obama hit it square on the head when he said that " We Took Our Eye Off The Ball In Afganistan". We lost our chance with killing Osama in Torra Borra, That blind sheik is still alive and so is the Egyptian with glasses.

We still have the greatest Nation, Civil Defense and Way Of life IMHO but how much have we lost track of here as a result of being the defenders of the Word. What about Somalia and Africa. Their people are starving to death by the millions while some Dictator or Corrupt form of Government gets rich raping the country. Why are we not there defending a oppressed people and forming a democracy in the name of freedom?

Or is it all about oil and self serving special interest when we compare Africa with the Middle East and our special interest, so we can drive SUV's ?

Maybe we don't need a Hawk, but it's time for A Strong Rooster who defends our Country, heals what is sick and mend's or fixes what is broken with US !!

I am starting to think that Obama is more what we need as a Nation of people to realize that goal. Perhaps it would be better to bring our troops home in 16 months, increase3 our strength in Afganistan and become non oil dependent in 10 years, with a education system that is the best in the world, a infrastructure that is not coming apart, a balanced budget with no dept to China. If it requires a few extra tax dollars on my part, I think that I am willing to pay my share. As long as Main Street is taking care of, and the fat cat Bank CEO's are Hung on the street lamp with there own golden parachute.

Well suprise, suprise ! President Clinton, on 3 seperate occasions had a chance to nab Osama Bin Ladin , and passed on every opportunity. When 9/11 hit....Bin Ladin's whereabouts were long
gone.....Typical Obama's analysis coupled with selective memory. Had Obama had is way while serving as a Junior Senator we may well have had another 9/11 as he consistently voted and expressed oppostion to our in-place anti-terror intelligence gathering procedures - and still does.

Oh dose he NOW !!! I think many of the no Sayers have had a change of tune because of 9/11. True we had the chance when Clinton was in office, but I don't think Bin Laden was viewed as the threat as he was later on.

Wasn't it about mis informed intelligence that got is in the mess we are in with Iraqi in the first place.WMD's etc. I think that Bush just wanted to go after Hussain in the first place for dear old Dad and get a few barrels of oil. Only time will tell the truth about that.

But what about today, should we not be more worried about Iran, Syria, Korea. And their paranoid governments and what will be going on in 10 years.
